Overview

I led a pivotal project to integrate TSheets with QuickBooks, streamlining the approval of time for payroll and invoicing. This successful integration enhanced the user experience and drove revenue growth for both products. Following this achievement, I developed a strategic vision to further align TSheets and QuickBooks, culminating in TSheets' acquisition for $350 million. Post-acquisition, I spearheaded the creation of a new admin-focused Time workspace within QuickBooks, significantly boosting customer growth and recurring annual revenue.

Approach

Discovery and Research

  • User Interviews: Conducted interviews with current users of both TSheets and QuickBooks to understand their pain points and needs.

  • Market Analysis: Analyzed market trends and competitive products to identify gaps and opportunities.

  • Stakeholder Meetings: Held regular meetings with stakeholders from both TSheets and QuickBooks to align on goals and expectations.

Planning and Strategy

  • Feature Prioritization: Prioritized features based on research to deliver the most value, such as seamless time tracking, automated payroll processing, and accurate invoicing.

  • Roadmap Development: Created a detailed project roadmap outlining key milestones, timelines, and deliverables.

  • Team Coordination: Established clear communication channels and collaboration tools to ensure team alignment and information sharing.

Design and Prototyping

  • User Flows: Designed user flows to map out the integration process from end to end.

  • Wireframes and Mockups: Created wireframes and high-fidelity mockups to visualize the integration within the QuickBooks interface.

  • Prototyping: Developed interactive prototypes to test with users and gather feedback.

Development and Implementation

  • Agile Development: Adopted an agile development approach with iterative sprints, allowing adaptation and refinement of the integration based on user feedback.

  • API Integration: Worked closely with the QuickBooks team to ensure smooth API integration and data synchronization between TSheets and QuickBooks.

  • User Testing: Conducted extensive user testing to identify and resolve issues before the full rollout.

Launch and Optimization

  • Beta Testing: Launched a beta version of the integration to a select group of users for final testing and feedback.

  • Full Rollout: Gradually rolled out the integration to all users, ensuring a smooth transition and addressing any issues that arose.
